China’s Strategic Pivot: Diversification, Technology, and Long-Term Resilience

Some days ago, while attending a training session, I listened to The Briefing from Studio One at Midori House in London.

It mirrored the same reflections I have been making and further confirmed my views on China and global business dynamics.

Following the U.S. trade war, China reduced its reliance on the U.S. market by accelerating global diversification. The strategic focus shifted toward regions with fewer political and regulatory barriers, prioritising long-term market presence and resilience over short-term margins.

At the same time, China intensified its push into high-technology industries to reduce dependence on foreign technology and strengthen economic security. Moving up the value chain has become central to sustaining growth and mitigating external trade pressure.
