What a striking way English bookshops do it. A constant flow of outstanding publications, beautifully presented to an audience that is genuinely devoted to books. A perfect combination.
And as I often say after an evening in St James’s, take the route along Piccadilly and fall in love with the bookshop windows.
This time, the main subject was the Bayeux Tapestry and the publications around it. Which immediately gave me another idea: make it to the pub before last orders and start a discussion about the Bayeux Tapestry.

The hamper boxes at Fortnum & Mason capture everything that an English summer is about. And the design is always striking. Even in a minimal display, with an all-black setting and a single spotlight, they make it work.
It may not be the classic Fortnum & Mason signature, yet they still make it unmistakably their own. An impressive way of handling heritage.
For some reason, I find myself continually drawn to the southern side of Piccadilly. Perhaps it's the fantastic bookstores or the classic club land just a around the corner.
