Discovering Wine Delights: Zinfandel and Riesling Highlights

Discovering Wine Delights: Zinfandel and Riesling Highlights

Sisters and brothers, it is with great honor and privilege that I present to you three selected wines from the wine exhibition in Gothenburg.

I am usually not a fan of wine labeled by famous people and tend to avoid it. However, after connecting with music artist Jill Johnson and learning about her sommelier background, I gained a deeper appreciation for her private label. It offers a variety that appears American-styled but ultimately delivers the famous Zinfandel taste.

As usual, a couple of Rieslings stand out, playing well in different areas. Perhaps the Riesling is still the master of grapes, and Germany perfects its creation. The Kallfelz Sensus Riesling Hochgewächs Trocken is a dry and elegant wine, while the Deidesheimer Herrgottsacker Riesling Spätlese offers sweet tones yet maintains a developed taste that is not too sweet.

Lion’s Tooth of McLaren Vale: Masterful Fusion of Robust Shiraz and Fresh Riesling

Lion’s Tooth of McLaren Vale: Masterful Fusion of Robust Shiraz and Fresh Riesling

Brothers and sisters, it’s with great privilege and honour I present to you ‘Lion’s Tooth of McLaren Vale Shiraz Riesling,’ created by winemaker Elena Brooks.

This wine is a tribute to the classic blend of Northern Rhône, combining the robust character of shiraz with the subtle freshness of riesling. Blending blue and green grape varieties, a common practice in Rhône where viognier is often used, Lion’s Tooth adopts this tradition with an Australian twist. The wine has been recognized for its quality, including receiving 94 points from James Halliday for the 2021 vintage, offering a unique taste experience for wine connoisseurs.

Presenting the Festive Delight: Delirium’s Pink Elephant Christmas Beer

Presenting the Festive Delight: Delirium’s Pink Elephant Christmas Beer

Brothers and sisters, it is with great honor and privilege that I present to you the Christmas elephant in pink. This is probably one of the best Christmas beers, Delirium from Brouwerij Huyghe, known for its pink elephant on top of the bottle, distinguished by the cork closure, similar to a champagne bottle.

It’s a 70 cl bottle, containing a beer in chestnut amber with a fine, white, creamy, and lacing foam. This complex brew combines caramel malt, fruit, spices, and sweetness, resulting in a very spicy and slightly bitter experience.

Celebrating Gino Girolomoni: The Visionary Father of Organic Farming in Italy

Celebrating Gino Girolomoni: The Visionary Father of Organic Farming in Italy

Brothers and sisters, it is with great honor and privilege that I present to you Gino Girolomoni – the father of organic farming in Italy. He was a political activist, intellectual, and writer, such an inspirational personality.

He was the founder of this producer of 100% organic Italian wheat, slowly dried at a single location. This pasta, born from the idea of an intellectual, makes me feel deeply connected with him, and I am in love with it. Let’s honor the dignity he brought to the land!
